Announcing Real-User Monitoring (RUM) Alpha Version
The SpeedVitals Team has an exciting update to share with you. We just launched the alpha version of our Real-User Monitoring (RUM).
What is Real-User Monitoring:
Real user monitoring gives the data (Field Data) of the performance experienced by the real-users as well as their interactions with the website. We have made our RUM even more powerful by integrating Web Analytics into it.
Benefits of Real-User Monitoring:
With RUM, you don’t have to wait for 28-days for the CrUX Data reported by Google. Our live dashboard allows you to see how your users are experiencing the website. Furthermore, unlike the CrUX Data which only includes the data from a small sample of your website users, the RUM data includes all the data points. Lastly, the RUM data includes LCP and INP attributions and breakdowns that let you diagnose and fix the issues.
Here’s everything that's included in our Real-user Monitoring:
Live Dashboard: A summarized view of your website’s performance and analytics that updates every 15 seconds.
Performance: Easy-to-understand graphs that show how your site is performing day by day with metrics like Largest Contentful Paint, Cumulative Layout Shift, Interaction to Next Paint, and First Contentful Paint.
Web Analytics: A powerful Analytics Tool that has everything you need to understand the user behavior.
User Sessions: In addition to viewing each page's performance, you can also view user session data, such as the number of pages viewed, and the amount of time spent on each.
Competitors: Evaluate how well your website performs in comparison to that of your competitors. SpeedVitals automatically fetches the list of your competitors as well as their CrUX data.
Boost Speed (Coming soon): Performance Audits that tell you what to fix in order to pass Core Web Vitals.
Difference between Synthetic Monitoring and Real User Monitoring:
Synthetic monitoring uses automated tests to simulate website loading. This is just the automated version of a Synthetic/Website Speed Test or the lighthouse test. It is done in a controlled environment under fixed variables (device type, network bandwidth, throttling, etc). It helps to diagnose performance issues before they arrive and can be used for apples-to-apples comparison.
However, real-user monitoring gives the actual performance percieved by your website users. RUM is essential for any website if your goal is to ensure good Web Vitals score. Both Synthetic and Real-User Monitoring has its pros. and cons. and are important tools for Website Speed Optimization.
